What is Model Context Protocol (MCP)?

What is a MCP Server?

MCP Server is a server that enable AI to interact for a specific aim with our world. AI is the brain, and MCP Server is just like eyes, ears, hands, etc. With what MCP Server sees, hears and feels, AI can do better. E.g. you can use a internet search server to let AI search the internet for information and then answer you questions.

How to use MCP Server without MCPHub?

Without MCPHub, you need to install dependencies: node.js, uv, python first. When you installed all dependencies, you can install a MCP Server by edit the config file manually. You can find more instructions from MCP Installation Guide

Where to find and use a MCP Server without MCPHub?

You can find Anthropic's official MCP Server from Official MCP Server List. And of course, you can also search for other MCP Servers from Google. When you found what server you need, you can follow its installation instructions to edit the config file to use it.

Why We Need MCPHub?

As we mentioned before, use MCP Server need to install dependencies and edit config file, setup parameters. This is not convenient for most users especially for those who don't have programming skills. And even Anthropic maintained a list of MCP Servers, it just a simple list, find the one you need is hard especially when the list is very long. So, it's not easy to discover and use MCP Server.

This problem did exist and will block MCP to grow. So, MCPHub was born.

The Anthropic team is very nice and open-sourced the MCP. Why not them?

We, MCPHub.net, serve as a hub, connecting all MCP Servers and Clients together. We'll treat all clients and servers equally. MCPHub is not serve for specific company or product, but the MCP community.

How To Use MCPHub?

  1. Download and install the MCPHub Desktop App from MCPHub Website.
  2. Open the app, it will automatically check dependencies.
  3. If something is missing, you can click install button to install it.
  4. When dependencies is ready, you can browse MCP Servers.
  5. When you found the one you need, you can click install button to install it.
  6. When don't need some MCP Server anymore, you can click delete button to delete it.
